Catch Them Doing Good
Transcript
Being a change agent is difficult, regardless of whether you're driving cultural, technical, organizational, or any other type of transformation. What all of these have in common is that you're asking people to change how they behave and operate.
When you celebrate those who embrace change, powerful things happen:
↳ It gives your team real examples of what change looks like in practice
↳ It sets a new quality bar that future work can be measured against
↳ It encourages hesitant team members when they see peers being recognized
↳ It creates momentum by highlighting progress, making change feel achievable
↳ It fosters an environment where recognition happens in the moment
One of my favorite definitions of culture is that it's the sum of the behaviors we celebrate and the behaviors we don't tolerate. When driving change, we often focus too much on what we WANT to see — when sometimes, it's just as important to celebrate the small wins people are making along the way.
